The project was the design of an expanded and renovated CVA Gallery at Brookdale Community College. Complementary to the addition was the renovation of the exiting gallery and greater integration of the re-configured gallery into adjacent campus facilities.
The concept was to create connections externally and internally, between the gallery and the broader Campus. To do this, the Gallery is based upon a triangular fractal pattern, using a recursion algorithm. Triangles are cracked again and again allowing variation in scale and dimension. In doing so, this creates unexpected results through a systematic process providing a part-to-whole-like connection from where I began. Each small triangle was generated from the original polygon made, just as the Gallery, the art, and it's users, are a part of the larger Campus.
