One of the white spaces that I identified in Target was a need for edgier clothes within the juniors department. This collection was inspired by the punk rock and alternative rock music scenes of the late 80's and early 90's. My collection is a girls’ junior line that has pieces that can be worn from day to night. It's for the outgoing girl who loves music and rocking out at local music shows. She dresses to reflect her playful personality and express her individual style. I wanted to create a line that had a little bit of attitude and embodied a girly grunge style. Each look is comprised of separates, which makes it fun and easy for my girl to layer, mix and match and reinvent her wardrobe. The fabrics for my collection are comfortable easy fabrics that provide quality while staying within my girl's budget. The color story is focused on blacks and grays complimented by pops of pink and yellow florals and leopard print. I also developed a trendy skull graphic that has the perfect balance between girly and punk. I wanted to create a collection for the girl that doesn't take herself too seriously and wants her wardrobe to stand out and make a statement. I think that my collection would appeal to a type of client not yet represented at Target and would open up new styles to your already existing customers.
