Contemporary Dance Theater // Fall 2013

  • A performance space that provides for local dance corporations of Philadelphia. Contemporary Dance is an expression of emotion which emphasizes tension and balance through the body language of the performers. The design of the theater aims to imitate the tension and balance expressed through the bodies of the dancers. Segments of leaning walls gradually rotate to encompass the auditorium space. The slight tilt of each wall represents the push and pull between two dancers. Where the walls overlap, a combination of natural and artificial light filters through the gaps, emitting a glow that pulls visitors closers to the stage.
