Engaging the Narrative *in progress

  • Informal modules that tie into places of convergence.
With a historical resistance to outsiders, Alexandra Township has evolved as a destination for immigrants who are greeted with xenophobic tension. Without engaging the narrative, one is doomed to repeat the oppression. Current black South Africans are still affected by Apartheid oppression because their limited formal education under the systematic segregation led to limited opportunities in a developing country where immigrants to the arrival city with higher education have greater opportunities to succeed. Through this movement, tension grows from a lack of cross-cultural understanding and limited engagement. Daily activities of Alex are through informal markets, and this project seeks to link daily life in a visible, shared experience of immigrants and locals.
