This was made for a school project in which I needed to take inspiration from something around me and design a table that fully represented it. My inspiration was music and how it can effect the emotions and attitude of people who hear it. After much thought, it occurred to me that this might be reversed so that the people and their attitude could create music. The easiest way to capture this with a table would be to have the tabletop produce different tones when pressure is applied to it. I felt that a party atmosphere would be the most concentrated instance of attitude and would likely produce the most sound, so I made the table a cocktail table for nightclubs. Lastly, the sound produced by the table is that of a pair of glasses clinking which helps add to the social feeling of a nightclub.
