Scissors Print

  • The third project was to create a trompe l'oeil using photographic imagery.  We were also given words to work with; mine was 'superimposing.'  Old shears and scissors were my inspiration, because I was interested in their metallic sheen and interesting shape.  By layering images of scissors on top of each other, I created a floral-esque print. The background is a curvy hand-drawn pattern that works to soften the spiky feeling of the scissors. For the colors, I chose the word 'stark' to describe the black and white tonalities in the scissors.
  • Below are two variations on the background.
