Each dobby fabric was meant to express a characteristic found within the
unconventional architecture or cultural expressions of a slum. Therefore, the chaotic nature of how the yarn systems interacted with one another was welcomed. It delivered a more consistent response to the mismatched repetitions, densities, and rhythms found throughout the infrastructure of informal settlements. Different finishing processes were
also applied to certain textiles to enhance and bring the surface of the cloth closer to the realm of Urban Deterioration. It was the overall hope to aesthetically have the hybrid handwoven explorations represent a more intimate journey within the collection and to portray the vulnerability, integrity, and resiliency of those residing in slums.
