WELCOME! To your key to wellness.
This, is carl. Carl is feeling vulnerable. Like many of us at one point or another carl is a college freshman taking on the challenges and adventures of being in a new city, living on his own, and facing the stress of student life. By nature carl is not a very outgoing person which has him stressing about whether or not he will fit in in campus life and make friends. He is also dealing with quite a bit if stress being in a new city and living away from friends and family. He is also trying to dive into the realm of health and fitness but is not sure how to since it is all new to him.
After hearing about the Kea2wellness app, which is provided by his university, carl decides to take action! On this application carl can now have easy access to social happenings and activities on campus, which include interacting with other students through social media platforms such as twitter and facebook as well as peer challenges. He now also has the option to get into contact with the campus athletics department, if he decides to join campus sports and can find a peer or professional trainer through Keas’ network of certified trainers. Carl can also get in contact with peer mentors, and know when there are certain stress relieving activities happening on campus to help him stay calm and stress free. This portion also includes links and partnerships the university will have to professional resources on and off campus depending on what carl is comfortable with.
After using the KEA2WELNESS app, carl can now live his life to the fullest stress free allowing him to make the most of his college experience and help keep his mind focused on his education. After using the app carl has been able to become an integral part of campus activities and life, make plenty of friends and use fitness as a means of stress relief to keep calm. All of this in addition with knowing he has resources for mental wellness has given carl the freedom to live stress free.
Now you might be wondering why a corporate wellness company would develop an application to help improve student wellness among college campuses. Colleges and universities are always looking for ways to engage students in campus activities as well as build a strong campus community. Keas2wellness strives exactly for that, and in doing so our biggest goal is to improve students mental and physical wellness. 36% of students reported they experience some level of depression. 40% of students do not actively seek help in the matter. 50% percent of students have been so anxious that they struggled in school. And 80% of students feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities. It is these statistics that we at keas are trying to fight across university campuses across the nation.
We used many different patterns to get Kea2wellness where it is today. By starting out with the open pattern and multi sided pattern we were able to include more offerings such as a network of peer and professional trainers kind of like an uber for personal trainers. The open pattern allowed us to include universities in the creation process of kea2welness. This would ensure that each university was getting exactly what they needed from the application. After testing the first prototype by interviews students across the philau campus we added the unbundling and freemium pattern to the prototype. This allowed us to unbundle our services and let colleges to pick and choose what they would like at their schools depending on their needs. The freemium pattern came in when we offer the basic community aspect of kea2welness to universities for free and after a year we would work with the school to create a program that is customized. This was then tested with another interview with the associate dean of students at philau Tim Butler which suggested a much more holistic approach to student wellness which got us to where we are today.
Students will have access to the Kea2welness application through their university or college. Upon partnership with kea2wellness a university will be able to provide this application and service to its students. By engaging with colleges to create a very tailored program, we will be ensuring their needs are met. By selling tailored programs to colleges directly student will not have to pay for the kea2wellness service, it will be taken care of by colleges and universities.
