This project was completed in Fall 2015 for my Fashion Research course. The assignment was to choose anywhere in the world for inspiration and design a concept and collection based on that particular area or an aspect of it. Instructions also included to create an original print and create a fabric manipulation. I chose to create more than one print because of the variety of detailed body paint used for inspiration. I chose Ethiopia after being intrigued by the intricate body decoration and modification traditionally performed by the Suri Tribe. I went with a mod aesthetic for the collection because I wanted simple silhouettes so that the construction would not conflict with all of the prints used. I create asymmetrical garments so that the designs would not be too simple.
