In my Problem Solving Class, we are challenged with budgets of only $20 or less to design creative yet wearable looks while using unconventional materials. These materials are used to create surface interest, replacing/mimicking what designers would normally use in industry. (ex. beading, embroidery pleating, tucks, print/pattern, accessories etc.) For this project, we had to choose randomly 4 words pertaining to a focal point, aesthetic, characteristic, and color. My words were Torso, Asymmetry, Feminine, and Red. My inspiration from each of these words led me to researching Japanese Samurai women and I tried to encapsulate their radiance, strength, and beauty in this design.
Surface Materials: Muslin base, left over fabric scraps, forks, cereal, beads, water bottles, ramen, pasta, cardboard, bubble wrap, plastic cups, & plastic buckles. Applications: hot glue, spray paint, and acrylic pant.
