Urban Spaces 2

  • As part of my process for planning for these Urban Spaces designs, I would first make notes on what I saw in the photo. Sometimes I would notice little details I had initially overlooked. Then I would sketch some of the shapes I was drawn to in the photo. In this design, the checkered pattern on the shirt is taken from the rebar in the back right corner of the photo. My next step would be to take note of all the colors in the photo, even if some of them were very subtle. The yellow color in the shirt comes from the yellow graffiti in the top right corner of the photo. What was important to me during this process was to make designs that were inspired by the urban spaces but not clearly copying them. Some of the designs more clearly display the inspiration, while this one is more of an abstraction.
